The UOF has bold plans for growth. Starting in 2018 with just 20 students, this specialized French-language university has rapidly expanded to offer 300 students, and has plans to expand to around 2,000 more students in the next 4 to 5 years. OUF relies on its hybrid campus model, and so the stability and speed of their networks and cloud infrastructure are vital.

The power, security, and high availability of Canonical’s MicroCloud made them the ideal choice for UOF’s project requirements: MicroCloud can easily scale to support UOF’s growth plans for potential new satellite campuses and hundreds of new students across Canada.

Read the case study to learn how Canonical delivered:

  • The powerful and lightweight MicroCloud solution, which took the manual work and human effort out of deploying and scaling server resources and managing UOF cloud infrastructure.
  • Full backwards compatibility with UOF’s previous infrastructure, freeing them from new infrastructure or investment demands.
  • Support and professional services to reduce the pain out of deploying and maintaining the system, freeing up the UOF IT team for campus services.
  • Hands-free management and scalability to support Université de l’Ontario Français in its plans to grow its campus to potentially thousands more students.

“MicroCloud is very, very powerful and fast. Right now, with MicroCloud, we can deploy VMs and server resources very easily. If a teacher asks me for 20 guest servers, I can say, ‘OK, no problem, I can give you the 20 servers, even in just an hour.”
